Biography.

I am a contemporary water colour, mixed media and glass artist and work from my studio in Norfolk. I spent a large part of my childhood in South Africa and return there once a year. I have a great affinity with both England and South Africa and cannot help but be inspired by the huge contrast between the two countries.

My formal education and training were in the field of medicine and I qualified and practiced as a general practitioner. My overwhelming passion and desire for painting drew me away from medicine and after studying through the Open College of Arts I have been exploring the many facets of art ever since.

Nature and the natural world are my inspiration, the play of light and shade on an object changing it from something which was once so familiar invoking a new perception and beauty, and exploring what is ‘known’ to discover the exceptional.

Influenced by my childhood in South Africa, my colour pallet spans the spectrum. I love vibrant colour and am particularly keen to transmit the feeling of brightness into my paintings and work.

My work has been exhibited across the world including Norfolk, Cambridge and South Africa and I have paintings in private collections in the UK, South Africa, Norway, Sweden and the USA.

Specialising in site specific, contemporary watercolour commissions.
